On September 18, 2026, Ryukyuu Shimpo, a local newspaper in Okinawa, interviewed our team! We were grateful for the opportunity to share our research and our passion for taking on global challenges from Okinawa. Thank you, Ryukyu Shimpo, for this wonderful opportunity!
On July 12th, our team had the opportunity to attend a meeting with Mr. Kounosuke Kokuba, the member of the House of Representatives at Naha. The meeting was an excellent opportunity to introduce and promote our activities to a wider audience. We were also able to establish valuable connections with representatives and leaders from Lexues Inc., Umsan Lab, including Mr. Takashi Hiyane. These new connections open the door to exciting possibilities for our team. Moving forward, we plan to contact and organizations to explore potential funding opportunities, collaborations, and other ways in which we can work together to advance our activities. We are grateful for this valuable opportunity to share our work, build new relationships, and take the next step toward expanding our impact in Okinawa. We look forward to turning these new connections into meaningful opportunities for our project!
As part of our fundraising initiative, we organized a community outreach event on Kokusai Street. During the event, we distributed informational flyers, promoted the mission and activities of iGEM Okinawa, and engaged with members of the Okinawa community to raise awareness and support for our project.

We have partnered with FamilyMart to place donation boxes in selected stores to support our project. This fundraising activity generated 9,346 yen + 2 Euro in donations to support our project.
We are planning workshops and community events to communicate synthetic biology to the public across Okinawa. Details coming soon.
